System Upgrade and Co-location (Baytex)

Project Overview

Baytex wanted to upgrade and co-locate the existing workflow system and related servers. Updates also included a database upgrade from Oracle 9.3 to Oracle 10g, and Windows updates, patches, services packs for the related servers.

A secondary requirement was to standardize versions and configuration between individual solution servers as well as between the three existing environments: Production, Test and Development. Recently workflow servers have been excluded from established update/patch processes due to issues encountered during prior update attempts. At the time workflow servers were potentially at risk because they did not have the latest security updates and OS patches. Standardizing the servers and environments reduced future risk and maintenance efforts and also facilitated a number of pending workflow enhancement and integration projects.

Activities
-Catalog existing versions and software for each environment
-Investigate known or potential issues between planned OS and DB updates and Workflow software.
-Develop and execute project plan
-Develop and execute test plan
